If you have followed my story at all, you know that my brothers and I have been working together to make the best decisions we can for mom’s care. This time, I want to talk about something that did not happen in our story, but we wish it would have.

Long Term Care Insurance (LTCI). LTCI is not cheap, but not having it is much more expensive. An individual of age 60 can usually get LTCI for approximately $3,000 per year, depending upon a variety of variables.

LTCI helps to underwrite the cost of long term health care. With most policies, this includes everything from assisted living up to skilled care. LTCI would have provided the extra financial help that my brothers and I now need. We will be fine; God always provides. But if you are following my story to learn what you can, this tip could save you thousands of dollars. Not to mention the heartache and anxiety over paying the tab for your loved one.

Your insurance agent can assist you with LTCI. If you need a referral, please contact us at Mateya Law Firm; we can also help you with your elder law issues and your estate planning and administration needs.
